Dr Nathan Curran
Dr Curran completed his medical training and an intercalated honours degree in Human Genetics at Stellenbosch University in South Africa. Following his studies, he spent a further two years gaining experience in emergency medicine and infectious diseases. Since moving to the UK in 2005, Dr Curran has spent over a decade working alongside healthcare providers in the corporate health sector, which has afforded him a unique insight into the factors affecting the health of individuals working in this competitive and emotionally demanding environment.
During this time, it became clear to him that the traditional, disease-focused medical approach was ill-equipped to effectively address factors such as stress, nutritional deficiencies, sedentary lifestyles and environmental toxicity, which are driving the rise of chronic disease in modern Western society.
More recently, he has completed a postgraduate qualification in Nutritional Medicine and is an accredited DNAFit (nutrition and performance genetics) Provider. He was also one of the first London-based doctors to harness the benefits of intravenous nutrient therapy to help clients achieve enhanced vitality and physiological resilience.

What are vitamins and why do we need them?
Where do vitamins come from?
I eat healthily, so I should be getting enough vitamins, right?
A landmark study on the topic by Donald Davis and his team of researchers from the University of Texas (UT) at Austin’s Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry was published in December 2004 in the Journal of the American College of Nutrition. They studied U.S. Department of Agriculture nutritional data from both 1950 and 1999 for 43 different vegetables and fruits, finding “reliable declines” in the amount of protein, calcium, phosphorus, iron, riboflavin (vitamin B2) and vitamin C over the past half century.
Can vitamin tablets solve the problem?
For vitamins and minerals to be absorbed into the bloodstream and circulated around the body, the digestive tract has to be healthy. But eating processed foods or having food allergies can inflame the digestive tract making it less effective at absorbing vitamins and minerals into the bloodstream.
And it gets worse. Certain foods carry high levels of ‘anti-nutrients’. These are substances which actually block the the absorption of vitamins and minerals from the digestive tract!
